Valve Anti Corrosion Protection

Harsh environmental conditions were causing equipment on the Ascension Island to rust and corrode. This led to delays in productivity as costly refurbishment works had to be carried out on a monthly basis. Our challenge was to identify and implement a cost effective solution that would prevent corrosion, minimise downtime and protect this high value equipment from destruction and a reduced lifespan. The protective covering also had to be easy to fit and durable to stand the test of time.

Cunningham Covers manufactured bespoke anti-corrosive covers for the pumps and equipment that could easily be fitted and removed for access. Cunningham looked through their extensive inventory of specialist materials to find the perfect base material for this problem. The protective covers were then made from a specialised material, chosen for its ability to minimise humidity and condensation and this reduced corrosion by 85-95%. The protective covers have the added benefit of being UV resistant and durable to avoid a need for frequent replacement. Once deployed, downtime and maintenance costs were significantly reduced and further cost savings were made due to the extended lifetime of the equipment.

With the investment made in protective covers our client has reported a dramatic reduction in maintenance hours needed on their pumps and equipment. The time saving alone justifies the investment made on covers as our clients workload is hectic enough without having to be overloaded with maintenance work on a daily basis.
